→ 2023 here we come! We're obviously still featuring music produced and released in 2022 for this week and I have to admit last December has been pretty generous! Opening in Brooklyn, NYC with Club Level's haunting baritone saxophone... Album dropping this year! Back to the UK with Bruise's brilliant new single (a classic already) and Nightmares On Wax's take on Greentea Peng's latest LP's final track. Three of our 2022 favorites right here! Also looking back at some Colombian Los Pirañas back in 2019, ending in Guinea with the beautiful afro-cuban number "Soumba" by Kébendo Jazz. Wishing you all the best for 2023!

Mexico via Los Angeles to meet the mesmerizing voice of SAN CHA, Swiss afrobeat by Konkolo Orchestra with South African singer Nongoma, a marvelous duet with Porto-Rican-born, Belgium-based Gabriel Rios and Venezuelan singer Devendra Banhart. Off to the UK to pay homage to The Specials and Fun Boy Three's lead singer Terry Hall who passed away last week... Back to the US of A with the irresistible cut by nomadic band The Six Degree South. Enjoy this last one and see you in 2023! Wondering where we're gonna start this new year... Cheers! 🍾✨

→ A wee late this week! Took some time to digest that legendary final... ⚽🇦🇷🇫🇷 Going all latin this week! Celebrating the first release of New Regency Orchestra, the London based 18 piece band reviving the great old days of Afro-cuban jazz orchestras of the New York scene taking its roots in the collision between Gillespie's new bebop and Chano Pozo and Machito's latin influences... Can't wait to see them live! 10th Street also sits in the tradition by joining forces of 2 dozens of New York based musicians in the soul, funk and latin scenes. Off to Colombia with Aïtawa and their blend of lesser known Colombian rhythms, then to Cuba with the funk-infused latin trombone of Juan Pablo Torres. Finally we're exploring the roots of the New Regency Orchestra with the classic song "Tin Tin Deo" composed by Chano Pozo and Gil Fuller interpreted by trumpet Clark Terry and producer Chico O'Farrill on the 1966 LP Spanish Rice!

→ Starting off the week back in the UK dancefloor jazz scene from the 80/90's with strong latin flavors and the new Chris Bangs (pioneer of acid jazz), then off to the vibrant Melbourne scene with house duo Close Counters's new EP "THE DON" then to Medellin and Lagos with Colombia based Bosq and Benin/Nigeria guitarist Kaleta partnering for an entire new album. Looking back at 2015's LP from Yemenite-Israeli sisters trio A-WA and wrapping it up in Cape Verde with some coladeira by national icons Os Apolos. Enjoy!

→ Latin psychedelia is in the air this week... Starting off with a great Spanish-Chilean collaboration between Lorenzo Soria and Sebastián Orellana, then off to Paris with the first EP of former Le Mellotron resident DJ Marina Trench, then to Amsterdam with the absolutely beautiful "Juicy" by Venezuelian-Portuguese Alex Figueira. Paying tribute to Erasmo Carlos (Brazil) as well, who passed away two weeks ago, as well as first jazz flautist ever recorded Alberto Socarras.
